Tan Ying Hsien MW
Tan Ying Hsien MW qualified as the first and only Singaporean Master of Wine (MW) in 2015. He won the Institute of Masters of Wine Champagne Trinity Scholarship 2010 and was nominated to attend the Master Napa Programme in September 2013. He also won a French Wine Society scholarship for the Sud de France Master Level Programme in 2013 and the 2013 AXA Millesime Scholarship for MW students.Register for Masterclass >>

Gerald Lu is the President of the Sommelier Association of Singapore. In 2009, he won the award for Best Service in Food and Beverage at the Singapore Experience Awards. He also finished as a finalist in the National Sommelier Competition. Upon completion of his Certified Sommelier Exam by the Court of Master Sommeliers in 2010, Gerald went on to win the championship for the National Sommelier Competition, becoming the youngest Champion at 25 years old. Thereafter, Gerald served as Head Sommelier and Assistant Food and Beverage Manager for the IndoChine Group before leaving to open Praelum Wine Bistro in Duxton Hill in 2011. Over the next three years, Gerald finished his studies as a Certified Specialist of Wine by the Society of Wine Educators, and also became a Certified Sake Sommelier by the Sake Sommelier Association.
As one of the visionaries behind America’s craft distilling resurgence and the creator of several award-winning spirits brands, Christian Krogstad is the founder and master distiller of Westward® American Single Malt whiskey. In 2004, Krogstad established House Spirits Distillery (now the Westward Whiskey distillery), bringing together his experience in the beer and wine industries and tapping his passion for outstanding cocktails and food.
Pedro Ballesteros Torres MW
Pedro Ballesteros Torres MW holds an Agronomical Engineer degree and a Master’s in Viticulture and Oenology. He achieved his WSET Diploma, WeinAkademiker with distinction, and became a Master of Wine in 2010. Pedro also studied around the world, including wine regions of Jerez, Rheingau, Burgundy, Napa and Bordeaux. A columnist at several papers and magazines in Spain and Belgium, he also regularly writes for wine magazines in the UK, USA and Italy. Pedro has also chaired in major international wine competitions, including Decanter's WWA, Vinitaly's 5Stars, Concours Mondial Bruxelles, Bacchus amongst others. He has taught Diploma courses for three years. He is active in the fields of promotion and education, and sits in the governing board of the Spanish Taster Union, the Basque Culinary Centre's Wine Committee and other institutions. Other accolades include: National expert for Spain at OIV, VIA Certified Italian Wine Ambassador, VDP Ambassador. Member of Gran Orden de Caballeros del Vino, Spanish Command Order of Agricultural Merit.
Sean Ou Served the highly acclaimed Singapore Airlines as a Sommelier and Trainer for 11 years before clipping his wings. His long aspiration to become Master of Wine has led him down the path of achieving the elusive WSET Level 4 Diploma. His repertoire also extends to being an Advanced Sake Sommelier and Certified Whisky Ambassador. Currently, he's the Head of Wine for Southeast Asia under the Sarment Group and Principal Consultant for the Beverage Clique.
Lam Chi Mun
Lam Chi Mun is passionate about uplifting the craft of bartending and has been involved with the world of wines and spirits for over two decades.
Director at Diageo Bar Academy Asia Pacific, Chi Mun develops and overseas the training curriculum and delivery across the region.
Annette Scarfe MW
Annette Scarfe MW was awarded the prestigious Master of Wine (MW) title in 2012, winning the Noval Award for her dissertation on Ribera del Duero.
Annette is a wine consultant for global wine and luxury goods companies, generic and trade bodies and restaurants. She is well known as judge of two of Asia’s premier sommelier competitions (Sopexa Asia Best Sommelier in French Wines, Singapore National Sommelier Competition). Annette is a WSET and Bordeaux educator and runs tastings and masterclasses for media, trade and consumers internationally.
Additionally, Annette judges extensively at wine competitions across 3 continents including Panel Chair at the International Wine Challenge and Team Leader at the Imbibe Sommelier Wine Awards.
She is based in Singapore where she has lived for 22 years.
